( votes)ICEBUG SLIM FOR CYCLING
Back in June 2016, I had been wearing and testing the Icebug Slim’s for 10 months. Click here for link to that article. Now its March 2018 and I have recently had several clients ask me how are the Icebug’s holding up?
As of today (3/9/2018), I have had these insoles in my Shimano SH-321’s for 31 months! That’s turns out to be OVER 2-1/2 years and 25,000 miles (40,235 km)! So, how have they held up? What do they look like? Do I still recommend them?
GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS
Bad news first. They are finally worn out. Need to get a new pair. That’s it, that’s all the bad news.
Good news. These have been the BEST insoles I have even used. I’ve sold almost 200 pair of Icebug’s and there was only 1 person that returned them. Everyone has been very happy with these insoles.
WORN OUT
If you compare the current condition of the insoles to the previous article, you can see that these have help up VERY WELL.
The heel cups have not deformed, nor have they worn out. They still provide perfect support for the rear of the foot. No slipping or sliding has been experienced.
The arches have also held up well. To this day, they still provide as much support for the inner, outer and transverse arches as when they were new.
The single area that has worn the most is where my toes contact the insoles…worn about half-way through the gel. See photo below.
HOW DID THEY PERFORM?
All-in-all, I have been and continue to be very satisfied and happy with these insoles. The one unique aspect of these insoles, besides providing continuous support for an insane number of miles, is the large met-bump. Since I have switched to Icebug’s, I have never experienced numb toes.
So, what’s next? I’m going to have to pull out another box and put a fresh pair in my NEW LAKE CX-241 shoes (review upcoming).
SUMMARY
Support, Comfort and Performance. Well worth the $46.95 MSRP. They did everything well and are highly recommended.
The ICEBUG SLIM’s get a 5-star rating!
I have always enjoyed bicycling and, through a series of coincidences, became a Bicycle Industry Consultant and Product Tester. I test prototype products for companies and have published only off the shelf production products on biketestreviews.com.
